TRAK's T-1600 performance folding kayak is one of a kind. If you think you need to compromise performance to get your kayak to unique paddling locations, think again. TRAK’s rigid, adaptable hull gives optimal performance in various paddling conditions and for diverse skill levels (beginner to expert). And it only takes 10 minutes to assemble right from your closet. How is this all possible? Experience it yourself…
The world's only performance kayak that fits in a pack, the Trak T-1600 is truly one of a kind. The kayak is defined by its rigid, adaptable hull, which includes hydraulics inside the cockpit that let you instantly shift the hull's shape. By pulling or releasing the handling, you can adjust the hull to track quickly, to turn effortlessly, or to neutralize a cross wind without a rudder.
The kayak includes 3 hydraulic jacks so you can adjust the shape of the hull.
The hydraulic system, known as the Tri-active Performance System (TPS), makes the T-1600 suitable for multiple paddling conditions and diverse skill sets (beginner to expert). No more choosing between a kayak designed for speed and one that turns easily, because the T-1600 does both. The kayak is also extremely portable, with a design that goes from pack to water--or back again--in 10 minutes or less. The kayak breaks down into eight pieces: a stern frame section, a bow frame section, a PolyTrak shell, TPS jacks, an ultra-strong coaming, a command seat, float bags, and a neoprene spray skirt. Using a simple, intuitive process, the eight pieces come together in seven quick steps. And when it's time to pack up your gear, the kayak fits in an airport-friendly, trunk-sized Ogio pack that measures 52 by 17 by 15 inches (W x H x D).
The kayak's command seat is stable and comfortable.
From a durability standpoint, the T-1600 is tough as nails. The DuraTrak frame is made of aerospace-grade anodized aluminum for strength, lightness, and rigidity. In addition, all the tubing is connected with shock-cording, and the ribs and bow/stern plates in each section are attached to prevent loose pieces. The kayak's exclusive, expedition-grade PolyTrak shell is also completely waterproof, as well as virtually puncture-proof and abrasion-resistant. Add in a custom polyurethane material and indestructible welded seams and you have the toughest and most durable kayak on the market. The sturdy construction gives paddlers the option of handling rough seas and rivers (Class 4), and the confidence to tread any rocky shore.
Finally, the T-1600 includes a couple of handy convenience features: a storage system built into the hull and a comfortable command seat. The Keder storage system is an aluminum extrusion on a track that provides quick and easy access to your gear without the hassle of leaky, failing hatches. When opened, it provides complete access to the ample storage cavity inside the stern, but when closed, it provides a fail-safe watertight seal. The seat, meanwhile, is locked into the frame and coaming to provide all the stability and control a performance kayak seat should offer. The command seat also includes a padded cushion and an adjustable backrest.
